Today we asked the students where they see math in this Blackfoot bead artwork. Their responses were amazing. Everything from fractions, shapes, Pi, and patterns and we also got into a discussion about compasses and directions.
We have been exploring the story, "The Legend of the Buffalo Stone", by Calgary author, Dawn Sprung. We began documenting what we hear from the story using visual sketch noting where students take notes using images words, and sentences to document what they understand and learn from the story.
The Joy Pod students will be heading to Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump on October 22nd. This location is 2 hours away so we will have an extended day and will return at approximately 5pm that day. We will send forms and information home early next week. We are also in need of 5 parents to join us. We will have a volunteer sign up posted on the blog next week. Thank you in advance!
