Wednesday October 30

HALLOWEEN AT ERIC HARVIE SCHOOL

Thursday, October 31 will be an exciting day for many of our students because it is Halloween Day! EHS supports the spirit of Halloween festivities within these stated guidelines:

  • Children are welcome to wear their costumes to school on Thursday as long as they do not interfere with a child’s safety or mobility to participate in regular PE and classroom activities
  • NO MASKS are allowed to be worn to school
  • NO WEAPONS (not even really fake ones) are allowed to be included as part of a Halloween costume
  • Children are not allowed to bring food treats of any kind to school for sharing with other students due to the considerable number of food related allergies many of our students experience – we want to keep all our students safe at all times – and we know any trick-or-treaters are likely to come home with a good-sized portion of treats on Thursday evening

Reminder...

There is NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS ON FRIDAY, NOV. 1/19

Recreating the Buffalo Jump...

We continued to plan our jump. It is difficult to determine a fair way to assign different responsibilities and positions to each student. The students have been trying to problem solve and figure out how to make these decisions in a way where all student voices are heard. Through numerous discussions, they decided that they would vote. It was a learning experience for all! How do we ensure that people accept decisions and not walk away with hurt feelings? Their are so many perspectives to consider in the planning process!

Looking out to help the EARTH...

The Eco Team met today and discovered that "Eco" stands for ecology, which is the relationship between the environment and living things!

October 25, 2019

Thank you to the Kindness Pod for sharing your learning and teaching us the the importance of being brave!  They did a fabulous job in their Peace Assembly today.

The students have been finding creative ways to share their knowledge of the buffalo jump.  Some students are getting more proficient with using Powerpoint and are saving their work on their student Google Document account.  In the next little while, we will continue getting all students set up with their EDUCBE Google accounts so they can save their work regularly.

Below, see some pictures of the Subtraction Squares puzzle the students learned today.  See if they can challenge themselves at home.
