Research... Searching for Animal Facts...

Today we continued researching our grasslands animals, Moose, White tail Deer, Bison, Water bird, Prairie Dog, Domestics Goose, Sandhill Crane and Jack Rabbit to find out about their diets, habitats, predators, and behaviours. The students met in their specific animal groups and began to show what they know by "acting" out a mini skit about their animal. They included "Did you know fact..."

What's in a STORY?...

Students then transitioned into utilizing their research facts to plan and write stories from the perspective of the animals. We reviewed the important aspects of a story, character, setting, problem, climax, resolutions and ending.

Poetry... Searching for words...
We continued with poetry and added sound words and action words about the grasslands to our list. We talked about Onomatopoeia, which we will be using in the poems we are going to start making on Thursday.  The end of the day was time to catch up on story maps for the read aloud book, Ticket to Curlew.
