Mrs. Kinsman would like to remind all Joy students to bring their response journals and Book Club reading books to school on Wednesday. Students have set their own reading expectations for their groups and have been asked to create both a title page and their characters' page as well, to bring in and share. This is work we have been doing for 3 - 4 weeks together, with the expectation students would also work on it at home. We are not finished, but will need our books to share with each other on Wednesday. Thanks!
Our Ignite theme for the week is Winter Holidays! During our active Ignite category, students sang and acted out favourite Christmas carols. Winter Holiday/Christmas Cards were crafted throughout our creative Ignite category, and Winter Holiday traditions/memories were explored and either written or drawn during our calm Ignite category! The Natural Regions of Alberta were also portrayed by students on a large scale province map during Ignite.
2-D shapes were analyzed in Math for our Shape and Space focus, in particular symmetry and shapes’ number of sides. Students continued working with Green Fools during Physical Education and worked on Video Recording their Grassland Animal Skull story before lunch. After lunch, students investigated the parts of a plant by learning about the anatomy of grasses. Students labelled a grass anatomy sketch and painted it using watercolour paint. Following Body Break and Snack, students worked on Word Work and finished off the school day with Read to Self!
