UPDATES

Swimming!!

We are swimming in a week and a half and we need VOLUNTEERS. Our goal is to have three or more adults helping out in each change room. The dates are January 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24. Our pod is divided into two groups (see schedule below). If you can volunteer any of these days or all of these days please sign up on sign-up genius:

We will send home a volunteer forms as you sign up. 
Our schedule is as follows:
  JOY A (Cox & half of Lawson)
-depart school at 8:25am
-in pool from 9:00 to 9:40
-depart pool at 10:00

  JOY B (Huebner & half of Lawson)
-depart school at 8:55am
-in pool from 9:40 to 10:20
-depart pool at 10:40

Read Aloud
We started a new read aloud today.  Ask your child what they thought of the introduction and first chapter of Spiderwick.

Number Talk
As we move into multiplication, we are exploring the many strategies we have when we look at cubes on a grid.  We see rows, groups, lines, columns, addition, multiplication, and fractions.

Simple Machines
This week we have been exploring the design and function of simple machines.  We began by observing their differences and similarities, and categorizing them accordingly.

We are still in need of pony beads and pipe cleaners. If you would like to donate to our pod please send them to school with your child. Thanks again to those of you who have already donated!

BOOK CLUB

Students working with Mrs. Kinsman's 'Book Clubs' are finishing up their book projects this week. Students need to bring their novels and response journals to school every day for the remainder of this week since they will be working with Mrs. Kinsman every day. The last in-school day for this project is Friday, January 10. Students will be expected to hand in their novel and response journal with three completed responses (Title Page; 3 Character Sketches; Action Plan with 6 panels of pictures/words) on Monday, January 13, 2020.
