Happy Global Read Aloud Day!

Mrs. Kinsman read a story to the school today for Global Read Aloud Day.  The students are challenged to tweet (@joypod2020) or post a video on Iris of them reading out loud to a family member or a pet.

Math

The students are using Google Slides to share the word problem they have been working on.  See if you can log on at home using your educbe.ca account to show your family your problem.

The students worked through an assessment today to show their understanding of multiplication (arrays,  relationships, word problems and equations).  

Valentine's Day! 

If you are planning to hand out Valentine's cards, here is a list of the names of students arranged in their homeroom classes.  Please don't feel like you need to have a card for every student in the pod but they should do one for everyone in their homeroom class.   We will hand out cards on Wednesday 12th as there is no school due to Teacher's Convention.

A notice came home today for the grade 4 students! This is an excellent opportunity participate in workshops and meet authors.

Who Do You Tell Program for both grades 3 and 4...

We continued on with problem solving in math...

We introduced the STAR method! When solving a math problem. First Search for important information, then Translate it into a number sentence and a picture, then Answer the question by calculating your answer and finally Review the question and your solution and write a sentence that answers your solution to the problem.

Happy Monday! 

Today, during our Math block, we solved the multiplication word problems from the week before. We discussed the solutions we had used together and shared our strategies. Then we worked on making our own multiplication word problems. We've produced some very creative problems! Tomorrow we'll share our word problems with our friends and see if they can solve them.
